The ones I have no use for but the concept is good:
- Taskbarn it is streamlined and easy to use. Initially you have a task list – no different from most GTD task lists/to do lists – you can set priorities; assign to a particular person, or is simple is your method of choice – just enter them in a straightforward list. However, the thing of interest with Taskbarn, which other project collaboration tools don’t utilise, is the feed. “Notes” are very like twitter (in fact you can post it to twitter at the same time). You have 140 characters to create a message, you can attach a link or a file (document/picture etc) and this will come up in the dashboard/feed for other members to see.
Others do it better:
- I Need to Read this -The format is similar to later this you simply create an account (the usual username/email/password) then drag the bookmarklets to the bookmark tool bar. Simply click I need to read this when you are on an article you want to save for later. To read it later click read an article – couldn’t be more simple. Simple to use.
- Chandler and tagged Frog - list organise and tag things. Both are time consuming and uninteresting. Tagged Frog is all about linking, tagging and searching, while chandler is more GTD and organising tasks.

The tried and tested tools that I’ve not liked:
Others do it better:
- Blist is all about making lists and sharing the content on the web. Set up like a simple table you can formulate, create, share and blog lists.
- Central Desktop – more collaboration software – the usual stuff notes, to-dos, calendar etc. bit bland and boring.

The ones I’ve no use for, but the concept is good:
- Springpad – good all in one organisational notebook, just better for daily life than as a school tool.
Waste of my time:
- Luminotes – Online notebook. hated it straight away. Find it awkward to use, bit of a bore – and I don’t think it looks nice. But that’s just fussy lil’ me.
- Piconote Online notebook as mentioned at makeuseof. boring and simple. The only intrigue was the ability to add notes via twitter.
- The Iphone to-do list apps: Dobot ToDos, Easytask manager, to-do, tasks lite.
Others do it Better:
- Printable Checklist – To-dos checklist is easy to use – type and print (or alternatively, save as a pdf for future use).

The tried and tested tools that I’ve not liked:
The ones that I’ve no use for, but the concept is good:
- Cramberry – make your own flashcards – question on the front, answer on the back. Good idea, but time consuming to build up a collection.
Others do it better:

The tried and tested tools that I’ve not liked:
The ones I have no use for, but the concept is good:
- MonkeyonyourBack: Nifty idea if I wasn’t a student and actually got to tell others what to do.
- Tab-up: good collaboration tool. Perfect for sports teams and societies organisation and the like.
Waste of my time:
- Eluma: download to desktop – complicated, overrated and somewhat boring.
- Hordit: inferior version of later this/bookmarking – unnecessarily fiddly.
- RustyBudget: looked interesting, signed up, found it dull. left.
Others do it better:
The everyday student stuff:
- Coollecter: Downloadable DVD catalogue: not a bad idea, but I personally use lists and imdb for this purpose.
